I am the proud owner of a brand-new 2009 Toyota Camry SE. This is my first new car since my divorce, heck my first in many years, and I am very pleased with the fit and finish of this vehicle. Being a former employee of the Kentucky plant where these are made (I work at a different facility now) I like to think my old friends knew this one was coming to me and were taking care of me.

I have noticed one minor issue though and I'm not sure if it's a defect or an undocumented "feature". It relates to the manual climate control system in my Camry. The climate control system will not stay in recirculation mode. The weather was extremely mild this morning. There was no need for heating, cooling or ventilation. Fogging up wasn't an issue. I had everything turned off and in recirculation mode. A few minutes down the road however, I noticed a burst of cool air blowing on me. I looked down and noticed the climate control system had switched from recirculation mode to outdoor air mode on its own. I thought it was a fluke and put it back in recirculation mode. Three minutes later, it went back to outdoor mode. This went on for the next thirty minutes on my drive in to work with me resetting to recirculation mode and the Camry switching to outdoor mode every three minutes. I couldn't find anything in the manuals that would explain this and it certainly makes no sense to me.

Has anyone else ever experienced this that can possibly explain to me the thinking behind this or is this a defect? I hate to take my baby back in for service when I haven't even had her a week yet but I don't want to wait too long if I need to get it checked out. Any information anyone might be able to provide would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
