I may invent a second device to enable the video all the time however this is not a priority for me because I can already watch video in motion via my rear camera input hack.
Crewmadmax: you need to make sure you have an SPDT toggle switch and not one of those illuminated rocker switches like they use on fog lamps. Most of the illuminated rocker switches only have 3 pins and they use two of them to get ground and power for the illumination so they won't work properly with the speed pulse signals. On most SPDT toggle switches the center pin is common but sometimes it can be a side pin. Get the right switch from Radio Shack and then use the wiring diagram which I sent you to be sure that you are connecting the switch properly. You may also have to replace the IC chip inside your unit since you probably fried it by hooking it up wrong. This is cheap and easy: see the troubleshooting instructions which I included with the device.

The switch sounds like the problem. I'll get the correct one, but I'm guessing I fried the chip like you said.
