Probably would kill the x-runners awesome handling though. I don't know specifics but I assume that the 5.7 weighs at least a few hundred pounds more than the 4.0. Maybe TRD is reading this and they will give it a shot. They have the Money and knowledge to do it right if it can be done. They have put a 4.7 in a Tacoma AC Short bed (the access cab short bed is about as cool as the 4.7 engine they put in it) and in an FJ Cruiser... why not try the 5.7 in an X-runner.

I have a better idea... how about the Lexus IS F 5.0 in an X-runner? Smaller engine so it should fit better, lighter so it shouldn't kill the handling and more HP since now we are talking about a race truck! But let's keep a manual tranny with the option of an 8 speed, lower the gears in the rear-end to make it a real dragster.
Dodge put a Viper engine in a Ram... I bet the much lighter X-runner would be faster. If it was a production vehicle, I would be much less worried about the return of the Supra!
TRD are you listening?
