I just bought my first travel trailer and now need to wire the truck. I already have a hitch. After considerable research and talking to many auto parts folks, I found a plug in harness which I connected to the factory plug under and behind my bumper. It brings out the 4 wires to a flat plug, and then I installed a round 7 pin and connected the flat to that. The 7 pin has 2 extra wires for +12v and brakes. Problem is that I am trying to find where to connect the brake controller. I found a spare heavy gauge wire in the factory harness underneath that is not used. It is a black wire that goes somewhere to the front. Does anyone know what this wire is for? And I could use some advice on finding where to connect the brake contoller too. I am not an auto mechanic type of fellow, but I am a retired 2 way radio tech. Thanx for any help.......
Hi Richard.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of the brake controller? They might be able to help you.
