Default Re: remove instrument cluster

Figured it out.

Remove 2 Phillips head screws from black bezel. Remove 3 10mm bolts from the cover piece under the steering column. Pull outward and down under the ignition to allow the black bezel to slide out. Once the black bezel is out, you will see the 4 Phillips head screws holding the instrument gauges in place. now you can slide the gauges out enough to unplug the 2 connections.

I took apart everything last night to see what it would take to change the leds to white. It looks like about 12 small leds mounted to the circuit board. The issue is the gauge faces are tinted green so no matter what color the leds are, they will look green.

Fix: I took some sand paper and removed the green film on the back side of the fuel and temp gauges. I also did the 2-3-d-n-r-p cluster. I wondered why the 2-3-d-r-p lights were dimmer and its because when driving they go dim and only the selected gear is bright. Will post more pics when done sanding all the clusters.
