Re: My turn... '09 Corolla XRS
OK... 5000 miles on the car so far. Just did finish up a trip up to Moyock NC from Charlotte. About 350 - 400 miles one way pretty much 100% intersate and highway the whole way. I'm thinking (havent done the math yet) I was gettin garound 31MPG (I figure that by subtracting 2MPG from the average MPG calculator built into the car which is what it usually winds up being.)
The car handled the trip great. Even turning at 3000 + RPMS the whole way up and back, it kept on trucking with no issues.
Gotta love the JBL stereo too... kept me rocking the whole way up and back.
I did have the unfortunate encounter of running over half of a deer at 4AM. Looks like a rig had hit a deer and left the front most portion in the road, and the rear portion half a mile up the road. I didnt have a chance to miss the front portion, but thankfully the car did not take any damage from hitting it. By the looks of it, the rear "axle" took the blut of the hit. That is where I found most of the blood and hair. The gas tank was fine as was the bumpers and ground effects. I'm really surprised that the deer did not catch on the front tow hook that is located under the engine... if it would have, I would have ended up dragging the deer (or anything else that you might could run over).
Anyways, Toyota rocks as always and has created another timeless car that will last forever and ever. The car will be going in for its first oil change/tune-up hopefully next weekend or so.
Happy driving,
