Yeah, I pay attention. So blow me.

Currently the tach needle is riding just off the top of the 500rpm line - at probably 600rpm or so. The needle used to run at half-way between 500 and 1000 before - which I considered to be a bit high, but lived with. And yes, this is with the engine at operating temperature.

Now does this seem odd? Yeah. And I have no idea why it is so. My guess is it's whatever changes have taken place because of the ECU reset - not necessarily the removal of the HC filter. Or maybe a combo of the two. I don't know. But, the engine idles fine, and nice and smooth. Gas mileage is up a bit. I can live with it just fine.
Woah, easy killer. I wasn't meaning that as an insult or attack, just meaning that after putting time (or in other cases, money) into a mod, people watch things significantly more closely than they did before hand because they want to see what they just accomplished. This often ends up in incorrect analysis of data, because they never accurately monitored the data prior to the mod.

Case-in-point; several years ago I was part of an RX7 forum and someone installed a CAI on their car and was then posting about how much better it was and how he got more power, better gas mileage, etc. He also mentioned that cruising on the interstate his car ran 500 RPM's lower... with a manual transmission... It was pointed out that he probably was imagining things, but he 100% believed that his car was running a lower RPM and tried to convince everyone of it - then someone explained how a transmission works to him.

Okay, I'll leave this thread alone now.
