When you just driving steady at about 2000 RPM, I doubt removal of the filter would make a big difference as the engine is not drawing a large volume of air. I do think it will help when getting into the gas, as there would be less restriction. I live in an area with dusty roads, so I'm sticking with the stock paper filter, but will try popping out the other filter. When driven easy on my 44 mile round trip to work, I average around 20 MPG. It's all flat highway driven at 55 to 65 MPH. A strong headwind will knock the mileage down some however. It does look like a pretty big restriction when going thru the upper RPM's. As the Tundra runs rich at WOT, it should give it a few more ponies. I just hate that crap 10% ethanol fuel. It always cut into my mileage.
