As far as the heat, I was going to add the heat wires the same way and then just buy the mirror switch that pops into the dash. Probably costs an arm and a leg but it will look totally factory.

as for the wiring already being there...nope not on an SR5 without heat. i went to muth's website and they had instructions on finding the signal wire in the door as well as in the kick panel, the wires shown in their pics for signals dont exist in mine. i traced the entire harness looking at tons of pics on the web of the wire colors and all and im not sure how far back the wires dont exist but i know they dont exist in the door or the kick panel on my truck...probally over on the pcm side of things maybe but i couldnt find them.
yeah the wire tap things arent the best...but i always crimp the heck out of them and out of all the times ive used them i only lost connection once. one of these days im gonna get the pins to add to the OEM plug anyway and just run the wires into there and do away with the crimp on things....then i plan on soldering the underhood light connections..but only when i have an issue haha.
