Problems with RCD and axle (REAR)
Ever since the RCD install on my 06 dbl cab 2wd I have had clunking noises from the rear of my Tundra. Started out with the notorious clunk when letting off the brakes then another clunk when gassing it from a light. Well now the problem has got a lot worse. It is making a clunking noise from somewhere in the rear.
I had my buddy look under the truck with my stop and go trying to simulate the noise and all he could look at was the amount the rear axle would wrap up when gassing it. So of course we switched position so I could see for myself and all I can say is DAYUM! That axle moves tremendously and I think this may be part of my problem. I know with having blocks in the rear especially a 4'' adds to the wrapping so I am wanting to do something about it. I was searching traction/ladder bars on the forum and a few people have them. It looks like a surefire way to eliminate the wrapping problem. I read they are around $550 or so for the RCD kit which is what I may be leaning towards. I do not want fabrication done on such a new truck that is mainly a pavement pounder.
Is this RCD the kit for me? Anyone have any comments on the whole situation I am having? Also where is a good place to order the kit from if I decide to go that route? Any info would be ever so appreciated considering it feels like my truck is just gonna leave me stranded somewhere with something in the driveline busted. Also, I have already checked all bolts in the rear section of the truck to see if anything was loose and its not. Thanks guys!
