Default Re: DIY? throttle body optimization

The reason I asked is because I went ahead and did this myself. I also did the coolant bypass mod at the same time; I live in Texas. This will make removing the TB very easy next time as the coolant hoses and the heat of the metal are the only problems with this mod.

I didnot change the diameter of the entire TB, it is still the same at the butterfly plate. I have noticed a very nice throttle response improvement. Everyone should do this and the O-ring gasket mod before you bother with the intake. Have you looked at how many ridges there are in the TB that create a turbalent (sp?) air flow?

I did not get to take care of the screws as well as the company of the web page like this would have, as I could not get the screws out. So I just ground them down, and smoothed it out as much as I could. They also would have removed the entire half-round spindle portion at the front of the butterfly plate.

Also see my photo gallery for more narration.
