I'm playing with the idea of selling and ordering an XRS so I can get the 4wheel disc and 5 sp automatic. On the MPGs I don't understand why they don't get the same MPG's as the 1.8. The XRS has a 5 sp auto with a lewer rear gear than the 1.8 and 17 in wheels. Seems like that should take care of the difference in engine size and the little more weight the car has. It seems your averaging almost 29 and I'm always right at 34-35 with similar driving conditions.

Is you MPGs still the same? How fast do you drive on the interstate/country roads and what pressure do you run in your tires. Also do you have additives in the winter gas??

Thanks
Bob
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you bob.

My MPGs have not changed much. I'm still riding 28.9MPG average. Like I've said before, I do a 90% country mile/highway ride to work. Usually around 45-55MPH up and down hills. No interstate unless I road trip. I think at best at 100% interstate I got like 32MPG at 70/75MPH. I dont baby my car mostly. I put my foot in it fairly often, but either way I drive it I still get 28MPG. I run recomended pressure in the tires for the 17"s. They do put additives in the winter gas around here, so I'll be interested to see if it drops a MPG or two.

I wish I would have gotten an automatic. The 5-speed is fun sometimes, but other times its just a pain. It's kinda weird too and its real picky about how you shift. Its hard to get it JUST right for a smooth shift.

Performance wise, the 2.4L is pretty good in such a small car. It's got plenty of pick up (5-speed). I never tried an auto and I havent even really seen any other XRS models in town. Just "S" or the other "plain jane" models. I've found that the 2.4L in my car gets about 4MPG better than the 2.4L in my mom's '04 Camary. Mine has much better pick up too.

My car is still running 100%. I'm over 6000 miles now I think still without issue. My XRS seems to be a magnet for issues too as far as rocks hitting my windsheild and half deers laying in the road.

Also as a note on the XRS models, the seats are awesome. They look and feel very high quality for cloth. They're about the best thing you're gonna get without going with leather. They'll hold you good alright.

Let me know if you're wanting any more info bob, I'll do my best to answer any questions.
