As you said, personally, so ignorance is bliss. If the vehicle gets 25% better fuel economy then, for you to lose, diesel would have to be more than 25% more than gas. Also, as a diesel consumes less the impact on price increases in exponential. IE: the less you consume the slower the gas price rise.

Unless a bean-counter at Toyota figures a premium needs to be placed on an engine, (already in production), diesel is the way forward as the technology is here and now.

Honda launches a TDi in their Odyssey and Pilot next year! BMW will launch their 330Tdi this year. European sales are already greater than 50%.
