Unless a bean-counter at Toyota figures a premium needs to be placed on an engine, (already in production), diesel is the way forward as the technology is here and now.

Honda launches a TDi in their Odyssey and Pilot next year! BMW will launch their 330Tdi this year. European sales are already greater than 50%.

...the time has come ! ! !
Comparing the European market to the United states is a little different as Our market tend's to have this bigger is better approach on life .

Bmw had an intresting concept wile I was at the Detriot auto show and that was a hydrogen 7 series. Wile California has a pump's for hydrogen in selective market's i do see Technology aiming in better advancement's.
I Myself wouldn't buy a Diesel because I hate the smell assocated with it .Yea i have a hybrid Highlander and I feel we need to get out of gas engine and Diesel engines but the problems are more complex for a full sized Truck. Like i stated people demand towing figures that are large and gain 30 plus mpg that is somewhat hard to acheive on a Truck. E85 is also a joke as I hate it's use in real world applications.
