Apples-and-oranges comparison but the rear axle on my father's '97 F150 with 125K miles has whined since day one. It's never towed much but it show's no signs of failure and hasn't gotten louder over the years. Ford eventually issued a TSB that amounted to a total rebuild.

I hope this is a rarity-- I'm still on the fence about a Tundra purchase and have little desire to head towards the blue oval for my truck needs...
