I hope I didn't missunderstand what you were asking/saying but on a tt the dry weight includes the hitch weight. So the total weight of the tt is the dry weight, the hitch weight is just that, the weight on the hitch. Typically you want 10 to 15 percent of the total weight of the trailer to be on the hitch. Then you use the weight distribution hitch to distribute the weight to all 4 wheels of the tow vehicle. You will be very close to the GVWR of the truck after you load gear and people in the vehicle. You will probably be okay on the tow capacity as long as you don't load too much stuff in the trailer. May want to check the CGVWR(combined) also.
