Just had my driver side cable snap! (2004 XLE ltd) Makes it hard to get kids out of their car seat.

I can still open/close door (auto feature turned off), but it causes components that were attached to the cable to scrap against the side of the car near the track. I was able to remove most of the plastic components and a metal spring, but a metal pin still rubs against the paint.

I agree that this should not be failing so early in the life of the vehicle. Will contact local dealer for repair prices.
