Best Prices for the modules that I have found are on
ebay (search "pac tr-7"). But you can also sometimes find them at a local stereo/alarm installing shop since these moduels can be used for more than what I used it for depending on how you program them. Soem times these things are called alpine bypass modules too, it just what they orginally were designed to do. I use this same module for a pulse counter in my auto tailgate opener project.

Yes the dash light do not change function so after you start the truck the light will be on as if you hit the button for the 5 seconds and if you like to turn it off just hit the normal vsc button on the dash and everything goes off again. You can also put a switch inline with say the wiring going to the vsc switch this way it functions normaly unless you have the swicth on then it will automaticly bypass it for you at each start cycle.
