Default Re: MPG deciding factor

I bought a 2003 Tacoma 4-door with a 6 cylinder and automatic trans. I also bought the service package and extended warranty. So the truck was fully serviced.I bought the 4wd mainly for skiing in the sierras not for off roading. The worst road it's ever seen was a gravel road down in Death Valley. It threw a rod at 76,000 miles. There was hardly any knocking. It started as a ticking at a stoplight two blocks from my work.As I drove those two blocks it got steadily worse, and by the time I parked at work it was knocking and idling rough. The oil light never came on all other gauges read normal.I have always babied this truck, still do. My brothers say I drive like an old lady.
Anyway, I hope this helps, toyotas aren't all that!

PS, I checked the oil, full and clean
