Good luck on these mods, but not to rain on most of your parades, there is a good reason this feature is disabled. It is because it is illegal in the large majority, if not all states. I now of persons who have been pulled over, aside from the safety issues you propose (it isn't bad enough there are so many crappy drivers, now add cell phone blabbing, and watch a full length movie as the driver...so we can pay even less attention to the roads)
