I did the bypass,but not to watch movies. Most of the audio controls are also disabled with the "lockout". Factory audio systems allow you to control every audio setting without engaging the parking brake,I think it was stupid for Alpine to lock them out. As far as I know everyone but Alpine allows on-the-fly audio adjustments,my previous Clarion DVD headunit didn't lock them out.
Besides,I didn't feel like contorting myself under the dash to locate and solder the two brake wires. I had enough fun running power,optical,speaker,and RCA wires for the rest of the system
