Now that I read your first post more thoroughly it may be more than the contacts. The first symptoms are exactly like worn contacts, the clicking when starting. Replacing the starter and alternator are both fairly simple. I would either remove them and get them tested, most auto parts stores will do that free, or take the vehicle in and get the entire charging system checked.
