Default Re: 5-Speed Tranny Noise

Oddly enough, my truck's diff only whines - more like growls, on decel between 75 to 65 MPH. The noise is worse on a hot day (thinner oil) and coasting down hill (negative pressure on the driveline). I've got a Stealership appointment next Wednesday (10/8) to prove my case. Believe me, the tech ain't getting out of the truck until he hears the noise - even if I have to drive across state lines.

I have tranny problems too, but they're related to hard shifting. At one point I thought that Toyota would issue a clutch replacement TSB - no dice. A friend of mine got so tired of his shifting problems, he had an off-road garage replace his clutch. To his surprise, when talking to the mechanic, found out that Toyota issued a new part number for the clutch assembly - and in a comparision... the new assembly was beefier looking than the original. He has since had NO problems shifting after the replacement.
