FYI: TSB's are Dealers best kept secrets, they do get payed from Corporate for doing them and they even get labor & parts. But some Service Writers do not tell customers of existing TSB's unless you complain about them, why i have no clue? My Service Writer would always take care of me on all TSB's and the one spoke of about the serpentine belt noise i will enclose but TSB's are not listed anywhere but TIS which is the Dealers Data Base! Recalls by law are totally different, Toyota is required to notify you of them but they are only required to tell you to bring truck to dealership for work! They do have to reference the SSC# when they notify you! TSB's are only fixed when you complain of that issue! Take it in and make them document and give you a copy of the issues you are having and you will be covered later if ya have issues that they did not fix! Make them fix your issue, they have a 3 times the charm rule at most dealerships and the 3rd time a Corporate Tech is supposed to be involved! PS: if they do nothing after the 3rd time ya take it in talk to the Dealerships PR Rep and tell them you want Corporate to get involved or just call Corporate if they do not wanta do anything!
I surely wouldn't say they are 'secrets'. TSBs are simply there to aid technicians with diagnosis. They help prevent a technician from spending time trying to solve an issue that has been figured out already. Generally we use them as a place to start with diagnosis. Just because there is a TSB doesn't mean a dealership will perform that repair to your vehicle. If your vehicle has the symptom, then they might use that TSB to repair it, but if there is nothing wrong with the vehicle they won't do the repair.
