Bill dowd- Thanks for the info!
I used to use Mobil 1 synthetic trans oil on my previosly owned 97 Tacoma 4x4 and and 93 Camry V6 and changed them every 50-60K. Although, I never bother to use it on the power steerings on any of the vehicles I've ever owned. Usually, I considered the engine and transmission the two most important thing and tried to prolong the mechanical life of it as much as possible. I have however consider it, but decided not to since the powering steering was never an issue or concern for me in the past.
My current Camry I4 and Avalon engines hasn't seen any synthetic trans oil, but both does get flush out with regular trans oil around every 50-60K. This seem to work fine too and the transmission still shift smoothly. I though about synthetic trans oil, but just never got around to doing it since the regular trans oil works OK.
I still have a 91 Cressida with over 200K on it and the both the engine and transmission have synthetic oil in it. I had the synthetic trans oil changes on this car twice and the vehicle still runs good, but I hardly ever drive it anymore since it doesn't get as good of a gas mileage as the the Avalon and or the Camry. I do agree with you with all synthetic oil for best protection, but I've been slacking a little bit in certain area.
