Re: DIY: Navigation Unlocked Sucessfully!!!
Has anyone done this in a later year 2008?
I have tried twice and the disks are not readable in the NAV unit but they are identical when examined using the computer. I think it might be related to by DVD burner (maybe).
I would like to try to compile so information to see if there are any common things that make this work or not work. My NAV unit says "checking disk" and then comes back with cannot read disk. My Tundra is a 2008 and it is a factory installed NAV/backup camera screen/radio unit.
Could anyone who has successfully done this provide the following info:
Brand of DVD Burner
Software used to Burn disk
Firmware version of NAV disk provided with unit
Size of LOADING.KIWI file
I have even tried a disk from a 2008 Avalon NAV unit that has the 7.1 data and it wouldn't read it (even without resetting the firmware). It said "Checking DVD" and then came back with an error. Did Toyota make the newer versions check the DVD against some other thing in the system before allowing it to read the data? The data on the two discs (Tundra and Avalon) are otherwise identical when I look at them file by file on the computer. FYI - the Avalon LOADING KIWI is approx 89K is sze. The two LOADING KIWI mentioned in this thread are 48K and 45K approximately. If you have gotten this to work, which size file did you use?
Thanks.
