Ohhh, haha.
I re-read your post and it makes more sense. Nothing is wrong other than your key slot is worn out. In my old tundra, I could remove the key while in gear.
In reverse, the truck does roll with the contour of the ground.

The way it is supposed to work is that you can only remove the key in park and you cannot move it out of park without a key in the ignition. I wouldn't sweat it.
