as for alarms on cars, people can get in and out so fast it doesnt even matter. as a cop most of my reports i have taken over the years have had factory alarms or aftermartket alarms that either didnt trigger because they just popped the glass and didnt set off a shock sensor or something. or they went off and no one cared.
