Test drove the GL450 and even a GL 320 diesel today. Both really nice rides. The 450 is quick and quiet. The 320 is super quiet ( I mean it's hard to tell it's a diesel) and quick (not as quick as the 450) and efficient(25mpg). They both handle really nicely and are just impressive suv's. Their interiors are roomy and very well thought out. The NAV screen could be bigger as could the side mirrors for towing.

Consumer Reports doesn't think too highly of their reliability, though. Not to sure about their tongue weight of 650 lbs. My boat is close to 6k lbs. I will research and get its exact TW but figure 10-15% of the trailer weight and I'm pretty close to blowing these MB's out. The LC Tongue Weight is 850 lbs which is a more comfortable margin to me. Lots of people apparently happy with the towing on a GL in the various forums out there but I like lots of margin there.
