Re: Brainwashed or a Faith
This is a sad story but it ticks me off as well. Let me explain. Kawasaki disease is a condition that affects few children under 5. Symptoms include: rash, fever, enlarged lymph nodes, etc. Most kids recover within days. My oldest son was suspected of having it at about 18 months. He recovered quickly as do most kids. If untreated it can get better all by itself, or cause some serious heart issue and inflamation. Seizures are NOT a symptom of this disease. It's truly a sad story for Travolta and his wife and I feel for them, but I really believe that his son did NOT have this disease and was quite possibly developmentaly delayed by something else. While I suspect he was autistic there seems to be no way to prove it. However, as a special ed teacher for quite some time I always felt that Travolta's son displayed several autistic characteristics. His belief system seems to have clouded any reasonable judgement or questioning of his son's diagnosis. With Travolta's notoriety, he could have been a great spokesperson for autism and brought his personal story to the public. Instead it seems as if he made up an elaborate story to fit within the parameters of his belief system.
