Default Re: Trailer wiring harness

If there is a way to simply plug-n-play that would certainly be pretty sweet. I probably went the hard route by not exploring that option.
I have electric brakes on my trailer also. I retained the stock wiring harness and then wired the brakes separately using just one wire to the trailer. That one wire comes from the controller. The controller was given to me from the place I worked , so I was just happy to have not spent $50-60. Though I had never messed with brake controllers , it was pretty easy to figure out.
I made it easier on myself by wiring the controller without the brake pedal switch trigger , which means I can apply the trailer brakes at any time with no regard to the truck's brakes being applied. However , if you choose to wire it up this way , be aware that the brake lights will not illuminate.
I can provide pics and more info you like.
