Greeting from North Dakota, I am from Northern Maine originaly, so the winter here are more like what I saw when living in New Mexico. I have an 01 4runner and it is paid off, I hope to give it to my oldest son soon. You can drive at 14 here in ND, I know say no more. I told him when he can see over the steering wheel, we will talk. I have no mods on the truck other then a little larger tires. I had a 1987 SR5 4x4 pick up, but that maine salt used in a weak attept to melt the ice did in the box, as most state side boxes did. I ran that thing to the ground, blew a head gasket, and took it to a dealer in Canada, (closest one) the engine sounded like a dream, just the soft click of the injectors, the Canadians screwed up the timming chain and it ratteled like a model T for 10 years. When I moved to New Mexico the rusting slowed down and I drove it over Res roads for 7 more years. Let it go when I moved to ND, the frame was rotten. The 4runner is great, but it is time for some repairs. Timming belt, and they say do the water pump at the same time. Also the power stearing is hard to turn when it is cold, might be time to flush the fluid, is there an easy way to do this?
