For the 09'' Corolla, the above is correct being a cartridge filter with the same location as mentioned above. Must lift the car up either by jack or ramps to get underneath to remove oil filter cap to get at the cartridge filter. It cannot be any worse than the poorly designed 07' on up Tundra's having to take off 8 bolts holding on the entire skid plate just to get at the oil filter housing. Whomever thought of this stupid idea at Toyota should be fired. It is not extremely difficult, just a pain in the butt and very time consuming not to mention on the new tundra's the oil filter canister is very hard to get off even after cranking over 1/2 way off the threads the canister is very hard to remove still - maybe just my truck, but still ticks me off.
