About the only way you could license one of those Hi-Lux's is to buy one in Mexico, bring it across, and then pull the front clip, cab and box off a Taco and swap them. We have no emissions laws here abouts. As long as the truck showed a clean Taco VIN, you'd never have to worry about being legal. It's probably been done. Anyone with a brain isn't going to be posting it all over the net. The problem is, it'd be a pain in the arse any time you needed parts. You'd probably have to order fuel filters, etc from Australia or something. I also doubt GM has anything to do with keeping them out of the country. VW has some nice diesels on the US market. If any of the worthless big 3 had enough stroke to keep Toyota diesels out, things would be in litigation and press stories would be splattered everywhere...
