Default How to connect your laptop to your OBDII via usb?

I tried searching for this topic here but didn't yield much results...

Basically, I want to connect my laptop to my vehicle's onboard diagnostics so I can view my vehicle's data.

Has anyone tried it or found any products that allowed them to do so?

I found 2 manufacturers:

1. AutoTap - OBDII Diagnostic Scanner
They built a plug that can attach from your obdII connector to your laptop via usb or serial and it costs $200 for either. They also provide thier own software to utilize the info, read codes, reset codes, view performance, etc.

2. ScanTool.net, LLC - Scan Tools and PC-based OBD-II (OBD2) Interfaces
Similar to Autotap's device, Scantool has a product call ElmScan (with 3 different methods of connection: serial, bluetooh & usb) and thier products range from $99-$165 depending on the connection you desire. They too have thier own program which can do the same as Autotap.

My question for you guys is, has anyone bought and used either products? Any feedback from them? Would anyone be up for buying either of these if we could work out a group buy with them?

I would...if the price is right.
