Thumbs up Re: How Are Your Aluminum Rims Holding Up?

*UPDATE* I received a call from my service advisor, and the wheels (4) are on order and should be in on Monday and will be installed on Wednesday. I'm guessing it's not really going to cost Toyota anything as they will most likely send the rims back to the MFG as defective. But still the fact that it was stress free was nice. Also she stated that the rims are covered under warranty, not good will. She said that there is obviously a defect in workmanship. I'd have to agree.

I spoke to the dealers' master Tech and he told me that Toyota has a TSB out about carwashes and the wheel cleaners they use being overly acidic, but literally I can count on one hand the times that my truck has been to the carwash, usually in the winter when I know that if I wash it at home, my driveway will become an ice skating rink. Plus I have a Civic that has seen the car wash on a lot of occasions and those rims are still fine...I guess honda and toyota use the same mfg for rims as they have the same brand mark on them. However the civic rims are not as chormelike.

The moral of the story: never hurts to ask!
