I appreciate the OP's point.
When the right side mirror is totally flat, you miss the wider field of view, and your head has to be in the same position to see what's happening along the right side of the truck and then you have to move your head forward to see a bit more to the side.
I'm happier having a pair of decent quality strap-ons (don't say ANYTHING Flash).
That way I get the inner mirror that gives a wide field of view, and a flat mirror stuck out further to see along and behind the trailer.
