Great write up... although I wonder if using a good hard steel would be safer than alloy... Or is that stainless?
[edit]you mentioned it was steel... looked alloy in the pics...

THe Bracket I used was something that we use in furniture construction of Cubical systems. HON Furniture manufactureing uses it to join work surfaces together and support them on cube walls. It fit the bill and I took it home from the office with me. It seems plenty strong. But then again, im not well versed on steel, vs allow etc etc.
