Seems kind of strange that they would advertise a tint then tell you not to get it. What's the point of that. I had a car tinted a while ago and got it pretty dark and it had a metallic finish. I believe the coating was nickel but not sure. My parents got theirs done at the same shop after I did mine. They used a much lighter shade but it was the same nickel type plating. You could hardly tell the windows were tinted but it did the job. Point is I would bet you can talk to your local tint guy, pick the shading you want and still get just as much UV and heat protection from varying shades. Not to mention better gas mileage since the AC doesn't have to run as much with tinted windows. So really, your doing it to save money.
