Raise lift gate
use a putty knife or similar to lift up top trim above window
do same for each side trim
remove screw holding strap on
use small scredriver to lift bottom corner of tail gate cover
slide putty knife in where you see clip and pry up
repeat with putty knife at each clip (8 I think total)
tailgate cover trim is now just held on at window, strike bottom to force it up and out of window
Remove electrical connectors to items on black metal window panel
Remove clips holding wire harnes by pushing in hidden clip on each end and pulling out on harness
Remove screws from panel then take it off (see TSB post)
Remove spring, 2 bolts, and then the 2 metal piece the bolts went to, one on the outside and the one you unscrewed the bolts from
Try the window now, I bet it works!
Replace all panels, wiring and trim
This is much easier than it sounds. Don't be scared off by the TSB. Once uncovered, you don't do anything except remove the spring and bolts and 2 metal pieces. Very easy.

Bought a 2005 Sequoia last week. back window was dead and wiper didn't work. read a bunch of posts. the one above along with the TSB are the most helpful. opened up the back, removed the spring, two bolts and two metal pieces. my wife sat in front and tried to move the window down. i tapped the motor and started working. put everything back together and works fine now. so nice not to have to pay to get it fixed...
one thing i'd note is that i couldn't figure out how to disconnect the electrical wires. they didn't come apart easily and i didn't want to break them, so i ended up leaving everything connected and instead let the metal plate hang from the back door (using a temporary zip tie that i rigged up - very simple) while i did the work. otherwise worked like a charm!
