Re: Trying to buy 2010
Just found this thread and the same problem...on the fence between the QX56 and the more recently updated Sequoia. The QX56, in its last year of production and a bit dated (2004 with mild 2008 update) still is providing a luxury brand warranty/service experience. There are only four configurations (with/without front sensor/intelligent cruise package, 2nd row bench or captains chairs) and all the colors are more or less available. It also appears to be a few thousand less expensive.
The Sequoia has some newer features (ventilated seats, iPod interface, 380hp more fuel efficient engine) but the QX56 has a more luxurious interior and like the Armada a much better bluetooth and I believe nav implementation.
The limited quantity doesn't stop the Toyota dealer from dealing (near invoice), but so far not any color my wife would agree to.
The hundreds of miles purchase has lots of issues. First, you are adding significant search and delivery costs. Second, you don't know if their will be a closing problem with the dealer trying to squeeze in extra costs. Third, there are little nagging issues that a selling dealers is willing to fix but a non-selling dealer doesn't get reimbursed enough on warranty to handle. Finally, the selling dealer often includes small perks--Nissan dealers here include lifetime all changes and loaner cars--for customers who purchased from them; those would be lost.
