The new Mobil 1 0W30 is now available and I just had that changed last week on both vehicles and the engines seem to like the 0W30 even more than the 5W30. So far, I'm quite impressed with the 0W30 as the engine rev up quicker and seem to give me better gas mileage and runs quieter, too. I guess I will find out once I calculate the mileage driven after two tanks full on both vehicles.
Synthethic oil is the way to go if you want better protection, a little better gas mileage and to some (5-6K for me) longer interval between oil change.

Just a follow up report and update... After many miles of testing the new Mobil 1 0W30 on the Camry and Avalon, I've found very little difference with gas mileage on the Camry. The mileage average vary between 28.5 - 29.3 depending on driving habits etc. With that said, I went back and stayed with Mobil 1 5W30 as the engine feel much tighter with high revs. The average MPG on the 5W30 is 28.5 - 28.9 so its not much different there.
The Avalon is quite a different find though. The Mobil 1 0W30 improved the gas mileage from an average of 26.6 wtih the 5W30 to 28 - 28.5 MPG with the new oil. The difference also can be feel though more reponsive and faster reving to peak. Just to confirm the finding, I went back with 5W30 and the mileage dropped back down to average of 26.6 consistantly. This proved the 0W30 does improved on the Avalon V6 engine, but not so much with the Camry I4. And I believes it has to do with tighter tolerance with engine design of the V6 vs. the 4 cynlinder. That's just my thoughts anyway.
I'll take the mileage increase anydays.
