Just a thought for you. 2 years ago, quite often I would get nothing when turning the ignition key. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Finally, it was just plain nothing. I had heard about corrosion on the main wire connection to the starter. I turned the wire connection bolt from below and heard a slight crack. I figured, what the heck, and reconnected the battery, turned the key, and it fired right up. And its been firing up each and every time since then.
I was thankful, as it was rapidly becoming apparent that it would be a knuckle buster getting it out.
Most of the articles on starter removal mention that you should eliminate all possible corrosion on the connections.
So maybe you should check on that possibility.
