I haven't lost any low-end power according to my "butt-dyno". The graphs that I have from a real dyno unfortunately don't start until around 2500 RPM due to the limitations of the dyno testing. The engineer there did try to do some lower-rpm starts, but when the Tundra would downshift it would lose traction and spin the tires. AEM's dyno does have the ability to do load-testing, where they can get the full range of RPM's, but we weren't using theirs. I did ask if they could send me those charts, and unfortunately they'd have to retest a vehicle to recreate the charts. They seemed willing to do that, but I don't know if/when they'll actually do it.

According to AEM, the K&N isn't really tuned...it's just a free-flowing intake (Take this with a gigantic grain of salt since they ARE competitors), which is what causes the power loss at the low end. AEM also does buy competitor models (which I would assume includes the K&N) and tests them against theirs, with the goal of their product exceeding the competition's. Again, this is from AEM's point of view so take it as you will.
