Default Rear Air Suspension

Hi Group,

this is my first post. What a great resource this forum is. I'm looking to buy a 2005 sequoia and I'm doing some initial research. I'm very interested in the optional rear air suspension, but I'd like to hear what other users think of it. Does it work well? Is is a well liked option? How often do you use it? What changes do the different settings make in ride quality? Is it a must have for towing trailers?

Any and all info about this will be helpful in my sequoia research.

Thanks everybody.

PS. Does anyone have a 2005 Limited 4x4 in Silver they would like to sell?

I have the option and pull a small trailer from time to time. Its an effective option if you're pulling a trailer. However, It makes for a harsher ride on severe bumps when unloaded.

It does a great job of leveling the truck when its loaded.

Just keep it on automatic and don't play with it.

You have to manually lower the rear suspension when disconnecting the trailer. Then put it back on automatic.

Thanks for the reply.

Does the system have an on-board air compressor that provides the necessary air pressure when adjusting the ride height settings? Have you experienced any problems with the different components of the system, or has it been reliable for you?

Overall as an owner, how much have you liked the system? Has the harsher ride when not loaded been worth the performance when towing or loaded?

I'm trying to decide how important this option should be to me when buying a sequoia in the near future.

Again, thanks for your post.

It has the on-board compressor. You barely notice it run.

If you're going to pull a trailer, then buy it. Otherwise, pass. I didn't intentionally buy it. I was shopping right after Katrina and wanted the lowest cost Sequoia for 0% and rebate. I bought mine for $31k, an '05 when '06s where on the lot. Got $500 in gas gift cards too. Gas just went up to $2.90/gal and everyone was buying 4 cyl corollas. I used all $500 in gas cards in 2 months!!!

It's functioned well in the 2 yrs and 36k miles I've owned it. It will eventually break IMO.
