Question 2007 Sequoia Engine Idle

Has any one had any issues with the idle of their truck? I have had this happen and my Wife has as well. When sitting at a light meaning the truck is stopped, the idle will go up and the truck starts to move and in oder to stop it I have to press down harder on the brake. I'm not lifting my foot off of the brake at all. This even happened when I was stopped at a light on an hill the idle this time when down and the truck started to roll backwards. I brought the truck to the dealer and was told that it doing this because of the touge in concert with the V8. This was reported at 5K miles and now I'm at just about 11k and I have an appointment at the dealer next week. Any feedback woul dbe great.
Thanks, Steve

Toyota told me it was normal and to live with it. Toyota refused to service it, nor enter it in computer as a malfunction.

good luck. I'd like to know if your dealer will service it.

Default May be A/C

I see this with my 2007, and is all related to the A/C compressor. If you are in Auto temp control, then the compressor can cycle as needed. Can't think of any other engine events that would cause the throttle to ramp up...anyone else?

Oh, there's another thread running on this from a month or so ago.

It is the cooling fan locking up to bring in more air for the radiator, so the engine idle will increase to compensate for the extra load. It is keeping the coolant at a certain temperature.

Normal w/ A/C on. I think with time it appears to happen less frequently.

We have this problem too. I'll be sitting at a red light and suddenly the Sequoia will be moving forward. We once almost hit a pedestrian, who freaked out a little. It seems totally unrelated to the AC compressor or fan. We've brought it in to Toyota for this issue twice. The first dealership pretended that they had no idea what we were talking about and wrote "unable to reproduce" on the service slip and sent us on our way. The second dealership told us that this was a common problem and "normal" - they also wrote it up as "unable to reproduce". Toyota customer service told us that this was a known problem that they were trying to fix for the 2008 model but that it's considered normal and there's nothing they are willing to do about it.

Based on this issue alone I'll never buy another Toyota. Fords don't do this. It's not normal for a car to lunge forward like this. It's not safe, either.

Oh, it also appears that rust spots on the frame of a 3 month old car are considered "normal" . . but that's another story.

Yes, I have the same problem and I had the same problem with a Toyota truck I used to have. I don't even think about it anymore because I just naturally use enough foot strength on the brakes. If you just like to rest your foot on the brake and get lazy the car may roll foward a few inches.

My 06 does the same, it really idles very high its done it since day one . when you first turn it on you better have your foot firmly planted on the brake because it really jumps if your not careful. This doesn't seem to be normal I've never had this issue with any other new vehicles I have owned in the past.

Yep, happens all the time on my 07 Sequoia. This seems to be a pretty prevalent problem with other Toyota models as well. Pretty dangerous if you ask me to have your foot on the brake, look down for a moment, and then realize your car is rolling forward. I am taking mine in soon and hope the service adviser can replicate the problem.
