Default Rear door problems

The rear hatch on my '03 Sequoia will not open. The handle does not hang loose like the linkage is broken. It just feels like the door is still locked. Also, the day before, the rear wiper and sprayer stopped working. I don't know if the problems are related. The rear window works and I made sure that the window is completely up. I've also checked any fuses that have descriptions for those systems. Any ideas? Thanks.

Took everything apart and put it back together. Everything works again.

I am trying to replace my rear handle because it is broken. Problem is that I am not sure how it was connected between the handle and the wire. They were separated when I unbolt everything, so I could not tell how they were before the handle got broken.

Any chance you can describe this? I notice you just took everything apart and put them back together.

Thanks
Chris

Chris - My backdoor handle just broke last night on my '02 Sequioa and I can't figure out how to "get into it". The handle broke when the door was closed. Not sure how to open the door to get to the inside of the door. I took off the trim around the license plate holder and now I seem stuck and not sure the next step since I don't know how to open the door.

How did you get into the back door? DId you have to have the door open to get into it?

Anyone have some wisdom on how to fix the backdoor handel when you can't open the back door?

Thanks....Willy

Hey Bro This Has Just Happened To Me Recently. I Am Replacing Mine Tomorrow. You Have To Remove The Interior Trim In Order To Replace It. Luckily My Brother Works At An Auto Shop So He Is Going To Do Most Of The Work. Ill Let You Know How It Goes.

Same thing happened to me and still is. My rear door handle broke. Mecanic say it happens all the time because the handle is plastic and the rod is metal. I was reall y pissed because ther eis no inside door handle to open it. After about a month of taking my daughters bike through the rear window I brougt the handle parts for the rear door had it replaced. Two weeks later the door locked up on me again this time the handle was working it just was not opening. Couple weeks after that it starts working again. ARRRGGGHHH. Do you think the mechanic installed it wrong?

You go from inside the truck. first you remove the plastic trim for the top, each side and bottom (large piece). Then you remove a big metal plate, this will give you access to the inside of the door - glass is on the up position. From here you can see everything. You can open the door by pulling at the wire.

Please see here http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...r-hatch-stuck/ for a detailed instruction.

My next problem is that the little plastic on the wire is also broken, so that will be my next challange to fix, anyone has any idea? This is a pain...

Question Re: Rear door problems

I've had problems with my 2003 Sequoia. TThe back door won't close. I took it to the dealer the last time it wouldn't close and they said it was working fine... and it was... after the appointment. ???

It won't close again. It's cold ... maybe that's what causes it? I lubricated it, but it still won't close. I have it tied to the back seat with a rope... because it will fly up upon acceleration.

Anybody have any clues to fix this??? I hate to make a special trip to the dealer.

Thank you!
