'03 Sequoia Electrical problem - need a clue, please
Couple of months ago I replaced the rear door latch with no problems. Week later, rear window quits working. I assumed it was a connection that came loose following the latch fix, and today finally got around to checking it out. Connections all good. Got clicking sound of relay (?) when toggling switch. Played with all connections on rear hatch. Still no luck, and no more clicking.
All windows were/are down as I'm doing the trouble shooting (nice day). I realized while driving around none of the windows operate. Sun roof included. Noticed right away VSC, Brake, and ABS lights all annunciated on dash, but all this systems seem to work fine. Stopped for gas after a while, and battery was dead (nearly) - would not start. Got a jump, but battery is not recharging. Car died on the side of the road. AAA has towed it to local mech (after hours), and there it sits, windows down.
I'm guessing while playing w/ connections I must have blown a fuse, but looking at the obvious ones, all appear fine. Is it possible alternator has failed coincidentally, or have I shorted something out? Anyone have any ideas?

sounfds like atlernator to me. On all previous toyotas I have owned the daash lights up like a christmas tree when the alternator is failing and the battery is discharging. typically the operation of everything but the engine go first. Just the way toyotas are. Bet you it is the alternator & once replaced & battery charges (or replaced) everything will work just fine.

Maybe shorted out the ignition switch, blew a breaker and or fuse. Good luck. I bet the $$$ you pay at the dealer now is twice what it would've been if they'd have fixed it for ya 1st......something to think about.
Re: '03 Sequoia Electrical problem - need a clue, please
OK, just to confirm...
You were driving and all was OK
Then you weren't able to operate any power accessories
Then the dash lights came on
Then you shut down and weren't able to start again.
You're most likely going to be replacing the alternator. Obviously you'd want to check the alt belt, and see if there's an obvious broken connection, etc.
Back in the day you'd have been able to keep driving, but today's computer-controlled engines need juice for the ECU, etc.
If you're adventurous you may be able to find an auto electric shop to diagnose the alternator itself (or buy brushes and replace them) but no mechanic in the world is going to spend 2 hours rebuilding an alternator (brushes cost $1) when they can sell you a new alt for $230 and charge you book labor to swap it out.
