Default Keyless Entry/Alarm Remote Problems. Yes, Another One.

Hi all new to the forum and I have checked the post for information on the programming remotes and features etc. I have a problem that I don't think is mentioned (or at least I did not find a post). I purchased a 2004 which the dealer said was an 2005 that does have some type on keyless entry system on it and it did come with a remote but it does not do anything (lights up but no action). I read that the ride can come with 2 models one from the factory and one from the Port.

Problem is with this remote not working, I don't know if it is the correct one for my ride or not. It is the 4 button (lock, unlock, window with panic on the rear) and has a green light that lights up whe the buttons are pressed. I have seen both types that come with the SUV but, I don't know if the dealer just pulled one on me and put a remote that did not work on the key chain and said that is the one it comes with.

What I would like to know is where I can find the brain to make sure it is the correct one to go with my ride by checking the FCC on it against the one on the remote (I am hoping they are to match each other)? The remote is ELVAT1B and should the FCC on the brain match it?

By the way the remote ID number you have means it was a port installed system Fob not the factory Toyota one. You will have to find the vehicle security ECU to confirm which system you actually have. Texas usually means it was a GST (Gulf Coast Distributor) delivery so it could have either type.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

Thanks for all the help guys!! I found the other posting with the links for the port keyless type and I found the little small 4 wire box under the dash (driver side). From what I gather I only have keyless entry and do not have an alarm. The unit only has 4 wires and no shock like that print out had as an option. Long story short, something is wrong with that keyless entry brain (ECU).

The 4 wires are, black (ground), red (constant 12 volt positive), yellow (switched 12v positive) and blue w/white (data). Only options I have now are to add a real alarm to my Seq. Anybody out there with a (REAL) factory alarm??

DP where did you find the info on the control unit? when I bought the truck (used) only one remote worked. since then I have a similar problem, the remote stopped working. Need to find out if its the remote or the brain.

Thanks
