Default Replacement Antenna

Is there any aftermarket (or Toyota brand) whip-style antenna to replace the power antenna on my 2001 Sequoia? I've replaced the mast once and it worked for a few days, now won't go down more than about 3 inches when the radio is turned off, so cannot get the car washed, etc.

I don;t really care if the car has a power antenna vs a regular whip style, so would be willign to go that route if anyone knows of a replacement I could install.

Thanks

Why is it not going down? I replaced mine once so far because I hit a bird with mine and its worked well since I've replaced it over three months ago.

Have no idea why it won't go down now. I've reinstalled it three time snow. Tends to work for some time (days or weeks), then stop. Now, today, on the last install, just retracts about 3", then the motor stops.

But that's not really my question. I am looking for a totally different solution and getting away from the whole power antenna thing.

Did you find a whip style antenna that would work. I have a similar issue. I replaced my mast as it was grinding as well and that didn't fix the problem. Dealership said it was the motor and would be over $200 to fix. I don't care about the power and would just like a whip antenna but I don't see a universal antenna similar to the toyota antenna.

Thanks

Couldn't you just use an antenna assembly from the Tundra?

Haven't found a whip, but haven;t looked real hard. Antenna goes down most of the time, so has become less of an issue. Would still like to find a whip though. Did the 2001 Tundra mentioned have a whip?

I don't think a tundra whip will work. The sequoia has a unique mount. It doesn't screw on. It has a sleeve that the mast sits in. I ended up cutting the plastic and putting a screw in the end of it to keep the mast up and then put a small piece of metal between the antenna and sleeve to keep it from slipping.

would like to find a regular whip though.

Right, but I was thinking you could replace the whole assembly (antenna, and the mount that goes into the fender.)

How hard are these to replace? My wife drove the car through the carwash with the antenna up. It got kinked and creased. It was just flopping around (about 5 inches extended) We haven't been using the tuner.

The other day, we shut the door on the floppy antenna by accident and it cut the plastic cord inside.

LOL now what? I'd like to be able to use the tuner.

Its not hard to replace you take off the bottom ring and and then pull the antenna out. Then you simply feed the new one in.
